Behind the Scenes at WED Magazine | Retro styling

At a secret location in west Cornwall a previous X Factor contestant dressed in stunning fifties inspired dresses and fun flirty headwear can be seen working the camera like a true professional. Chloe Jasmine who was made famous for her glamorous vintage look on the reality TV show is also a very successful model and the perfect choice for this retro shoot. WED magazine approached me to get on board as an assistant stylist for the issues cover and editorial shoot.

It was a beautiful day and the chosen location really lent itself well to the theme. As soon as you enter through the large gates you are surrounded by vintage signs, bits of planes, motorbikes, retro cars and even a double decker bus! It was like an Aladdin's Cave, being able to source lots of varied and interesting locations for the shoot.

Chloe rocked the looks we gave her and really bought the fifties vibe to life. Hair and makeup worked beautifully and complimented the elegant yet edgy dress choices.

If you are thinking of going for the retro look on your big day, remember you don't have to go overboard on the styling. Incorporate elements of the era, such as a pop of colour in the shoes, a birdcage veil, a tea length dress or go for the hollywood glam with your hair and makeup.

See below some of the sneaky behind the scenes pics from the day, as you can see these shoots take a lot of organisation, staff, planning and unnecessary squatting.... :)
